Hi All! I want to tell you about something I learned about the crappy Outlook email program I use 'cos I am a lazy herd follower. Was upset with our List Manager 'cos a post I recently sent at 10:38PM didn't show up until 6:15AM. It was a time-sensitive post and other posts got thru quickly, so I assumed I was being "moderated."
Turns out that the way I was posting was to "reply all" and deleting all names on the send line except the Mpls List address. If the message I was replying to was in HTML v. Text, my message was being composed in HTML. HTML messages can contain nasty things like viruses, not just purple prose ;-) Therefore HTML messages get cached until the List Manager sends them thru. I couldn't figure out why my messages were HTML.as I have my sending option set to Text. Turns out, if I "Create Mail" I will send plain old text. If I "Reply" my message will be text or HTML, depending on what the sender sent me. IMHO this is a pretty stupid "feature" of Outlook. If anyone out there knows how I can send replies strictly in text, please let me know off list. Sorry for this diversion into techno, but I think the List could benefit from the info and I personally am getting tired of reading the debate of the merits of Pit Bulls. But PLEASE let's keep the heat on the Park Board. The mainstream press outlets have pretty much given them a pass, but maybe the critical mass of opinion leaders (myself excluded) on this list might lead to some needed changes. Cheers!
