I don't know how much activity there is here, but the forum comes highly recommended.
My personal issue right now is the program to "limit" tax increases to 8 percent. I do agree that Sayles Belton's political survival agenda that refused to fund basic needs to freeze the tax rate was not in the public interest. But I also know from former city employment that taxpayer funds are not used efficiently by city employees. I asked my council representative to personally address this, but he dodged the issue. I think there has to be a big uproar from the taxpayers before the politicians will take the issue seriously. And I know that voters have, by and large, been indifferent to what was going on downtown. They hate tax increases, but they grow docile anytime the city government seems to be holding the line on taxes. Meanwhile, the considerable money they still pay could be flushed down the government toilet. I supported the campaign of a Libertarian just to get some debate for a change. And the former incumbent did quit politics, which at least opened the possibility of improvement. Jim Mork Longfellow Neighborhood. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
