A lot of Minneapolis news in City Pages this week....and inside City
Pages.

The immediate story: former editor Steve Perry will assume his old job.
In the '90s, under Perry, City Pages overtook the Twin Cities Reader as
the area's largest weekly. (Disclaimer: I worked for Steve and also
competed against him at the Reader.)

I'm certain that under Perry's leadership readers will get much more
timely and aggressive coverage of Minneapolis City Hall...which will
keep competitors such as me on my toes, but it is undeniably good for
the city.

I believe with Perry's City Pages return to City Pages, the arrival of
new Strib editor Anders Gyllenhaal (about whom I've heard surprisingly
good things from normally cynical reporters) and - if I may - the news
upgrade at my own Skyway News - things are looking up for local
reportage. (Suck-up disclaimer: no, I am not looking for another job.)

I believe that under interim editors Dave Schimke, Beth Hawkins and
Michael Tortorello, City Pages has already improved recently. The
current issue features several Minneapolis stories that should inspire
discussion and debate.

The Estate sale: did third-party liquidators sell an elderly Uptown
Minneapolitan's home for a song?

MPD Hit and Run: Local couple's car is stolen - and they get the ticket

Smoke and Mirrors: When it comes to Civilian Review, Mayor Rybak is all
talk (column)

Finally, CP competitor Pulse gets quickly off the mark with
riot/melee/assault/shooting coverage:
