Drugs, race, police relations, economics and an incident magnify a volatile, complex
mix of issues in the Jordan neighborhood

A neighborhood garden bursting with
sunflowers and pride sits side by
side with the beige stucco bungalow
where a police drug raid left a dog
dead, a child wounded and a community's
reputation tattered.

The contrasting images on the northeast
corner of 26th and Knox Avs. N. reflect
the mixture of hope and hostility that
continues to simmer in the Jordan neighborhood
of north Minneapolis.
