Well as it's always nice to know, who came and who didn't at these things, I thought I'd tell you all that Council Member Robert Lilligren made an appearance at the LCR meeting. No, he is not about to change parties, but he seemed quite tempted. Steve Braa, candidate for Senate District 61, (who mentioned that Berglin had voted for that Stadium bill that Dibble opposed) also attended the meeting.
Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer talked about what she has done with the SOS office to improve procedures and customer service, and recruit more election judges. Her Green Party opponent also came to the meeting to ask Kiffmeyer if she would agree to debates. As I heard it, Kiffmeyer would be glad to debate, but people have to work with her schedule. She was unable to make the UNITY Vote debate (held in Minneapolis a few weeks ago) because the event had been scheduled before contacting and getting common times from candidates. Mary was the only statewide Republican candidate who came to the Horn Towers National Night Out event to pay her respects to slain officer Melissa Schmidt. I think it says alot about her. During her talk with LCR, she also praised list member, and Democrat Bert Black -- who works in the SOS office. I encouraged Mary to campaign more in Minneapolis. Election results from the SOS office will be available down to the precinct level on election night. Also, the results will be available in downloadable format. I've appreciated this option with the Candidate List.
