According to the City�s published financial reports for the year 2001:

2001 Revenues (earned) were $306 million.  (Intergovernmental receipts
below)
2001 Expenditures were $543 million.

2001 Revenue Breakdown:
    $207,018,000 from taxes
    $20,913,000 from licenses and permits
    $35,592,000 charges for services and sales
    $9,436,000 from fines and forfeits
    $33,068,000 from special assessments, interest, and miscellaneous

2001 Expenditure Breakdown:
    $56,061,000 for general government
    $153,530,000 for public safety
    $38,820,000 for highways and streets
    $22,359,000 for health and welfare
    $71,923,000 for culture and recreation
    $21,881,000 for economic development
    $40,812 ,000 for urban development and housing
    $137,304,000 for debt service


Here are the corresponding figures for the prior year (2000)

    $52,081,000 for general government
    $149,636,000 for public safety
    $35,846,000 for highways and streets
    $20,718,000 for health and welfare
    $66,585,000 for culture and recreation
    $21,692,000 for economic development
    $35,232 ,000 for urban development and housing
    $97,997,000 for debt service

Money received from other Government sources:

2001 - $187,839,000
2000 - $174,634,000

These two numbers are reflected separately because both years preceded the
Legislature's reduction in aid to Cities.  Also, current deficits at EVERY
level of government reduce the likelihood of sustained subsidies to
Minneapolis.  It is more accurate to reflect revenues that were actually
earned and expenses that were actually incurred, because it is impossible to
predict future receipts from other Government sources.

These numbers also precede Brookfield's default.
