I know I'm going from the specific to the general again, but I just realized that this argument is not very valid. I've worked in and around some very large companies and, frankly, they run exactly the same way. The public/private comparison that some people favor so much is really only valid when comparing small companies to the public sector. In which case the same comparison can be made between small private and large private companies. What I see from this is that we need to promote SMALL business and stop wringing our hands over businesses like Northwest, Honeywell and the Twins.
