How can this be a "racist" explanation? I've heard Ray Marshall's Sabo story from several people who are trustworthy. This is one of the axioms of Minnesota(and Minneapolis) politics: use a Scandanavian name if you have one. If not, find some shirt-tailed relative and incorporate it.
