But one thing that the City of Minneapolis website is lacking is
an easily accessible city employee directory. If you want to encourage
communication with your citizens (customers), then easy access to the phone
numbers & emails of city employees is very important.
The online directory of services helps (if you know the jargon the
city uses to describe it's departments), but an actual directory of names
would be very helpful.
For an example of a superbly done version of this, see the State
of MN site at http://www.mail.state.mn.us/. This is updated daily from
their payroll system, so it is very accurate. And you can search on any
part of a name, and find people. It also links to a similar, equally good
system for the University of Mn staff & students.
I wish the city of Minneapolis site would do a similar directory
on their site!
