I just read the article.  Sounds to me like Goodman is sick and tired of spending time on the committees, doing the work, then having CMs not on the committees decide, for whatever reason, that they know more than the members who have spent the time on the committee, studied the issue, heard the testimony, and participated in the discussion to arrive at the decision.  I can just imagine how frustrating this is to a Council Member who is conscientious, does the work, and feels they represent the best solution possible.  I saw an example of that in the Council meeting this morning.  One CM decided that he wanted to make a change - he is not on the committee, had not participated in the discussion, and if the change would have been made the Council would have gone beyond the number of days set by law and the item would have become automatically approved.  One thing new Council Members have to learn is that they have to do their jobs, become informed of the issues from other committees, but respect the work of their colleagues.

Lisa has a lot of talent, and I can't say that I blame her.  Why should she spend that kind of time to have everything shot down.  She's knowledgeable and intelligent and is very committed to doing the best work possible.  She might just as well limit that to her Ward and have some time to enjoy herself.  I can't say that I blame her.

It would appear that the overall sense of this Council is less than collaborative.
