The Pioneer Press article notes that the glass on the south side of the
library will be opaque. I think that thick/double or triple paned glass is
pretty energy efficient. I like the new design and hope that archival and
energy issues can be resolved.

I did a search to get the old library building photos to show up.
I tried using Richard Carney's link but got timed out message.
