A Mpls' father's plea could be anyone's plea. Anywhere in the U.S. Some places in the world. So this is not a Mpls issue. Dream on folk's. Basically, that relegates us to talking about the Twins. (which after the first inning......seems too much like S and M.) Which may be the real point of Mpls issues. The twins, not S and M. If we speak of a water problem with Nokomis, we could just as well say that the problem is not exclusively a Mpls issue, if it occurs in another city. I respect the idea of "Mpls issues" but have difficulty with it often. I try to break the world into compartments .....but I often see connections in other places. I do try to keep it Mpls. I do try. So how 'bout those vikings.....
I think it's good to open the discussion at some point however. "I" who during the "gulf war part 1" said "no more cars, as of tomorrow." As unrealistic as that is, it's equally unrealistic to drive when it's just as easy to walk, or ride a bike. Everyone has a different definition of "easy". My two cents: automobile drivers don't smell what we smell. How about this, how about if the MPCA starts testing the air of the City of Mpls. Which politicians will step forward with this idea? What do you think they will find? Ok, granted it's cleaner than it was thirty years ago, congratulations. Can we do better, let us try. I am coming to the conclusion the Idea of self government was/is governing of the self. And with that self government could come self government of a city, a state, and a nation. But we are Americans.....who seem to lose perspective easily. We should respect our opponent. Understand where they are coming from. Give them the benefit of the doubt, on all sides of an argument. I know when I do this I think it makes better posts. Not to mention rulers across the palms from the 'you know who's....oh, everything comes back to S and M. "Do not act on first impulse; people will soon recognize the uniformity and, by anticipating, frustrate your designs. It is easy to kill a bird on the wing that flies straight, not so one that twists and turns." -Balthasar Gracian, The Art of Worldly Wisdom Robert Yorga St. Anthony West _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
