Here is another economic spin on our pathetic attempt to educate "the
children."

One of my sisters, age 46, is pursuing an advanced nursing degree. She
pays approximately $1,100 for 25 hours of instruction per class.

Last night, she shared some examples of her coursework: Which of these
sentences is correct......

   The teacher should of known.....
   The teacher should have known.....

Utterly amazing! I learned that lesson in 1st grade.

So in Minneapolis (a current example) we will spend nearly $150,000 to
educate EACH child through high school. A sizable sum, given that we have
to repeat the process at the next level.

Conspiracy theorists (generally on the political right) claim that this
purposeful "dumbing down" of American children has been strategically
masterminded by the left - to keep "educators" at all levels on the public
payroll, and to maintain an ill-informed, dependent voting block.

My particular interest in this issue is the same as always: Striving to
make the most efficient use of public money. At this point, my only
comment is that the people we are paying to get the job done, are not
getting the job done. It's time for a change - and a big one.
