How is it even remotely possible that an EIGHT THOUSAND square foot house has a value of only $14,500? Small duplexes are going for $200,000 and being taxed at several times this amount at a far higher tax rate. Didn't we, the taxpayers, pay several times this amount for rehabbing before it was "Sold" to Jackie? Something is fishy somewhere. I even question the value of RT's house if the square feet is correct. Houses in Phillips that are 1/4 that size, and not in a "Better" neighborhood, are taxed on a higher appraised value. Are you sure you have your facts straight on this one Vicki?
Speaking of equal rights "under" the Law. We have to pursue Forus Incorporated. I suggest a name change. How about Forus Land and TRUST Company? That way we take advantage of the whole land trust movement that politicians seem to love, (whether a good idea or not) and will allow at least more latitude because it makes people feel good. The name doesn't have to mean anything. Similar names I can think of are all the large non-profits, reaping millions of dollars in tax dollars, with "Housing Trust" at the end of their names. Of course FORUS would certainly be "Trust"-worthy, since we start out saying our intention is to make money. (We should not tolerate the hypocrisy that typifies some other Non=Profits, we should admit we intend to make money) I know, lets take parts of several names that have become buzzwords for collecting tax money to "supposedly" help good people. FORUS Project That Creates Pride Housing Trust and Community Development Corporation. How could MCDA, the Mayor, and the other City Powers possibly turn such a Non=Profit down when we ask for the extra Guthrie land and the money to build Luxury Condo's on the river? Another idea! Lets recruit a lot of "lower class" people to join the Corporation. The past Mayor said the other luxury condos on the river were meant to attract "Middle Class" back into the City, (with 2 and 3 hundred thousand dollar per unit subsidy). Our plan would work far better, with twice the benefit. We would get those rich folks, PLUS we would make all of our "management team", (everyone involved in Forus Project That Creates Pride Housing Trust and Community Development Corporation), at minimum "Middle Class". Now it is time for your Math Vicki. How much would we need to suck, (whoops that was a slip), I mean DEVELOP to get 500 people (Corporate-members) at least $70,000 per year? Now we are talking Economic Development and "Empowerment". Even the Feds with EDA and HUD will want to get in on this, with several million!!! Well, have to go now.
