"Governor Candidates" Am I the only who thinks that looks and sounds grammatically incorrect? Shouldn't they have used the term "gubernatorial"? You can be a "candidate for governor" but not a "governor candidate." Much like one being a "senatorial," "presidential," or "congressional," candidate rather than a "senator candidate," "president candidate," or "congressperson candidate."
I wonder if the Skyways News didn't have enough space to spell out the longer word or what? I wasn't going to say anything until they used in their headline two weeks in a row. BTW, I apologize if, by some strange stroke, someone else addressed this already.
