This was in my email today and it seemed appropriate to pass along to the list...
If you love the May Day Festival.... .... you support In The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre. Right now, the theater needs 5 minutes of your time. The old Antiques Minnesota building next door to the theater is for sale, and the theater wants to expand into it. To create workshops, classrooms, a library, more performance space. To solidly anchor Bloomington and Lake with creativity and passion and magic. HOBT has been planning this for a while: they have a purchase agreement and some funding lined up. The crucial missing piece is that the city pledged its support in the form of $500,000 and now is waffling. The purchase agreement will expire in a month. Please call your city council person and the Mayor's office to urge them to support Heart of the Beast and to honor their verbal commitment to support this project. The theatre's executive director has put together a fact sheet on this building purchase and how much it would do for the neighborhood: http://www.urbancreek.com/hobt/factsheet.html I've put the contact info for the mayor and your city council member on a web page: http://www.urbancreek.com/hobt/contact.html If you don't know which to call, go here to find your ward: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/pi.app/Ward_Selection/Address.asp Reading this e-mail took 2 minutes, tops. Give HOBT another 2, maybe 3 minutes of your time. Please call or write your city council person. Should you live outside Minneapolis, HOBT still needs you! Call the mayor! Heart of the Beast needs your grass roots support today. Thanks very much, Karen. [please freely forward this message to anyone you know who cares about May Day and wants HOBT to thrive. And if you want to let HOBT know you support them, drop an email to their Executive Director, Kathee Foran: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>] _________________________________________________________________ Get a speedy connection with MSN Broadband. Join now! http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/freeactivation.asp _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
