Good comments have been made about the candidates' disdain for a six-figure salary. Go fish, I say. I would like to look at this issue from another angle.
I want to know how the Library Board can hire a new director as an "independent contractor" and remain on friendly terms with the IRS? Any employer who would try to hire someone as an independent contractor who has only one job, comes to the same place everyday and works fairly regular hours would be in doodoo at tax filing time.
