PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT FOR MISSISSIPPI RIVER POOL PLANS
The Corps of Engineers is seeking input on the
Mississippi River draft pool plan for pool 1, which is
located from the Ford Dam to the Coon Rapids Dam,
Minnesota. Pool plans are maps and descriptions of
how the Mississippi River should look in the future.
The draft plans are a result of cooperative efforts
among state, federal, and local interests to develop
common goals and objectives for the protection and
restoration of the Mississippi River. They will
become guidelines for future programs and projects for
river management. It is vital that they reflect
public values, priorities, and understanding.

The kinds of input the Corps is soliciting include
your ideas on where to: increase vegetation; provide
deeper water; modify existing structures; and restore
or protect islands or channels. Maps of current and
desired future conditions will be available so that
you can draw the river of the future and make
comments.

maps for Pools 1 through 10 are available at:
