While I understand that there are those individuals
who may be motivated by having there name on the
building, I am opposed to naming the entire building
for someone or a business solely because they give
money to the project.

There are also too many horror stories of those with
these types of ego driven motivations. I think of the
situation Augsburg found itself in when they
discovered a major donor was a rascist extremist and
the University of North Dakota having a hockey arena
built by an alum from Las Vegas who demanded they
build the team mascot inextricably into the structure
to prevent the Univeristy from responding to the
concerns of the native american community that the
mascot promoted rascist attitudes. In the case of
UND, the man who donated tens of millions of dollars
for the new hockey arena was also a major donor to
neo-nazi organizations.

Please library board, certainly be wary of ulterior
motives of multimillionaires bearing gifts motivated
by hubris.
