The list of businesses and residents on Lake opposed
to the Access Project is building. I am beginning to
think it is unanimous.

Yesterday, I walked the length of the 2900 block of
2nd Ave and talked to almost every home owner. I have
for the record, three ecuadorian families that have
made significant improvements to their apartments and
have no interest in moving; one white family with 23
years in the neighborhood who will move "over my dead
body", two black families currently renovating their
homes who knew little more than hearsay about the
project and voiced their opposition.

On Lake I spoke with the owner of "The Sporting
Image", a black-owned business which would be torn
down by the Access Project. He is fiercely opposed to
a widened Lake and indicated that his neighbors at
Checks Cashing were also. He explained to me how hard
it would be to move and how much he has invested in
that site. He vehemently does not want to be bought
out.

Tom Johnson does not seem to have any support on and
around Lake for this disruptive and wasteful freeway
expansion.
