Voting this Morning in Northwest Minneapolis

I estimate that 75-100 persons were or had voted when I voted at Creekview
Park at 50th Ave. N./Irving Ave. N. at 7:30 a.m. on my way in to work. The
line was at one point nearly running out the front door of the park
building. I have lived in Shingle Creek (most of Ward 4, Precinct 1) since
late 1989. I don't believe I have missed an election, primary or general or
otherwise and this is by far the largest early turnout that I have observed.
Normally school board referendum matters bring out extra voters in this
area.

I drove past the polling place after work and it appeared to be busy. DFL
Senator Linda Higgins and DFL Representative Joe Mullery have garnered
strong support in this precinct. The area was competitive in the former
election among Ventura, Coleman, and Humphrey.
In addition to races for US Senate and MN Governor etc., as you may recall
from the postings to this site, Mr. Velez from the SC neighborhood is
challenging Mr. Opat for this district's seat on the County Board.

High turnout=a strong vote of confidence for our cherished freedom in our
democratic republic.
