With our last city election I had high hopes that the city would work with neighborhoods to build affordable housing, slow corruption, and address real problems instead of making them. I understand it takes time. However, when I see the footdragging on the near northside redevelopment and the intentional tactics being used to build a Cub on Central I wonder if the mayor and the council really want change? My understanding is Cub owns Supervalue and that they are going through financial difficulty, so what's the WHOLE story here.
We as the public see so little, the deals being made, the corruption going on....I voted for R.T. because I believed he would clean a little house while he was doing all those other wonderful things only an outsider can do. I still have faith that he will do his best, hoping that will be enough. This thing with Cub smells fishy, let's have some real neighborhood involvement, for a change. We now know that the Eastside Food Coop will be opening next June or July on 25th and Central. I wonder why the city would encourage Cub to open a grocery store next to a grass roots effort to open a coop. What's the logic here? How will this encourage citizens to be involved and do anything if the city/corporations comes around and sabotages their effort. Robert Yorga St. Anthony West Have you heard the story of the French general? When his army became surrounded, he exclaimed, "Wonderful! This means we can attack in any direction!" -Anonymous _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A City-focused Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: mailto:mpls@;mnforum.org Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
