The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) has asked for public input on the
project at a series of community meetings. The first meeting is tonight,
with agenda as follows:
* First 30 min- Review of project materials and informal discussion
* Next 30 min- Presentations, project review
* Remaining 1 hr- Questions/answers.
According to the flyer, project staff and PAC members will present
information and be available for one-on-one discussions. Comments will be
recorded for use by the PAC and other decision makers.
Meetings are held on the following dates with locations and times as listed.
* Tuesday, Nov 12, 2002 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Lutheran Social Service- 2414 Park Ave.
* Thursday, Nov 14, 2002 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Phelps Park- 701 East 39th St.
* Saturday, Nov 16, 2002 from 10:00am to noon
Fifth Precinct- 3101 Nicollet Ave.

Those who have been closer to this issue may feel free to comment on the
"merit" of these meetings, but a public forum has been provided (as
required, I suspect). The flyer emphasizes the meetings will conclude on
time, and it looks like the agenda has been set to limit discussion. Those
party to the Hiawatha- Lake public meetings may see a similar pattern.
However, I hope many people will come well-prepared to understand the
proposal, ask the right questions, provide succinct challenges where
appropriate and let the appropriate government entities know of their
concerns and scrutiny of this project. Now is the time to let officials know
fiscal responsibility and accountability are the over-riding goals of all
projects which use taxpayer money.
