I'd like to add my voice to those who say the tax increases of which you've just received notice are a booby trap set by Ventura and Swiggum a couple of years back when they scoffed at the DFL when it said "DON'T DO IT" as they handed out a big chunk of the surplus mirage. Of course, they took enormous heat for refusing to climb on the bandwagon. Now the very people who were WRONG back then will try to make political hay out of their MISTAKE! Amazing. And yet more amazing will be how many people have so short of memory as to buy into this piece of mythology. Makes one wonder how popular government can even survive in such a hostile environment.
"Thanks for the information. One thing I really like about this forum is the fact that if there is a question, someone out there will find an answer for us. Mike Nelson Central" Very true. When the precincts were a zoo, someone was able to cite the law on handicapped voters, which really saved my wife a lot of pain when she went to vote. Regarding NRP, politics has descended pretty low when volunteers trying to fight degeneration of the city are mudslingers' targets. I guess the ideas of some for-profit developers conflict with what these volunteers do, and that makes them frustrated and angry. Usually, though, the NRP volunteers are local residents who must live with whatever gets developed. That obviously gives them a different perspective than those who can go home at night and get away from the consequences of their daytime actions. David Brauer didn't say anything about the when and where of the Citizens' Fair. So, I had to look it up. It is 5-7 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. My curiosity is piqued, so I'll probably check it out. The candidates' fair was a worthwhile trek. ===== Jim Mork Cooper Neighborhood ------------ Progressive Minnesotans, get together at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MN_progressive_tradition/ __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
