The South Metro Airport Action Council (SMAAC) will be holding their 2002
Fall Forum on Thursday night, November 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the
Windom Community Center, which is located at 5821 Wentworth Avenue South, in
the Multi-Purpose Room which is on the building level with the park
gymnasium.
The topic for the night is 'Connecting the Dots . . . . How the Environment,
Economics and the Elections Affect the Future of MSP'. The downturn in the
local and national economy and the events following 9/11 have dramatically
changed things for the MAC, the FAA and MSP. The assumptions and
projections that were part of the 1995-1996 agreement to end the dual-track
process and proceed with the expansion of MSP at the current location have
been dramatically altered within the last 6 years. Our panelists will
include Dr. Wilbur Maki, an economist, Rick Strassman from the Minnesota
Pollution Control Agency, Olin Moore, Transportation Specialist from
Representative Martin Sabo's office and Representative Jean Wagenius,
current and recenty re-elected member of the Minnesota House of
Representatives. Each will offer some opening remarks, exchange opinions
with one another and will answer questions from the audience.
Refreshments will be provided. Copies of the SMAAC Fall 2002 Newsletter
will be available for those that are not currently a member of our
organization or that are not currently on our mailing list.
Ron Lischeid
Windom and SMAAC Treasurer
