HCMC faces discrimination lawsuit

Hennepin County Medical Center in
Minneapolis is the target of a racial
discrimination lawsuit by 10 African-American
current and former employees.

The suit claims a variety of discriminatory
incidents including racial slurs by co-workers
and biased management decisions.
Plaintiff Carlotta Madison told reporters
her job was eliminated and a white employee
would assume her duties. She says during
the interim, another white employee was hired.

"I've been here for 18 years. And I've watched
a lot of people - black people - come and go,"
Madison said. "And I've watched a lot of black
people suffer because they want a job."

A spokesperson for HCMC was not immediately
available for comment.
