MINNEAPOLIS: 'My heart was just torn apart'
BY AMY MAYRON
Pioneer Press

Eight-year-old Lakia Winborn and her
11-year-old sister, Tyesha Edwards,
had just finished their reading homework
at their dining room table and were about
to start on their math when she heard a
gunshot, heard her sister holler and then
slump to the floor.

Friends and family gather to mourn and remember Tyesha Edwards

Saturday afternoon, the dining room table
where Tyesha Edwards often did her homework
was covered with mementos of the 11-year-old's
life.

Photos were placed in ascending order
-- baby pictures on the left led to photos
of a vibrant youth who co-captained her
cheerleading squad just this year. Bouquets,
growing in number as the hours passed,
accompanied sympathy cards and handwritten
notes.
