>From our own personal experience. Our daughter, Cayla, is now in 1st grade at Seward
>Montessori. Last year was quite a roller coaster for us. We didn't get into the all
>day kindergarten, which was our first choice. She was absolutely miserable in 1/2
>day. She had been going to an all day Montessori preschool two years previously where
>she thrived. Going to 1/2 day kindergarten was a step backwards and she hated it,
>felt like she wasn't challenged and got very little out of being there for such a
>short time.

To add insult to injury, since my husband and I both work, she was going to her
preschool in the am and kindergarten in the pm. She continued getting much more out of
her private preschool. The school was three blocks outside of the bus route for her
public school so we had to transport her in the middle of the day ourselves.

We pushed and pushed the school to assess her and they finally did in January - too
late to move her to 1st grade. They did finally move her to all day kindergarten then
and everything fell into place - she got tons more out of it, loved it and once again
thrived.
