Keith says; So right and so clear. First, teaching marketable skills in high 
school does not exclude teaching the three RRR's, in fact it may sweeten 
learning for young minds. Second, those kids 'on the corner' are our 
neighborhood youth. Many had only some fraction of their high school years to 
learn a legitimate vocation and how to read. No vocation was offered. Now 
they are 'on the corner' , learning how to divide drugs and count drug money. 
Their civic lesson is about city and county institutions. Their alma matter 
is a gang.

And in the mean while, misc. skilled help and honest workers are a rare 
commodity.
