I write to encourage the MCDA, the Mayor, and other City staff push hard to make the Heart of the Beast project a success.
If there is a reason for a governmental entity like the MCDA to exist, its to help locally owned small businesses redevelop the roughest areas of town, such as this stretch of Lake Street. Honestly, this project is everything a redevelopment project should be. If the MCDA can find several million in TIF to help Abbott Northwestern build a parking ramp for their new heart hospital (just a few blocks from the Heart of the beast project area), they damn well better make sure the Heart of the Beast project happens.
