Has Red McCombs given up on Minneapolis and will now move the Vikings to the suburbs? Why do I feel that I will somehow pay a tax when I dine at my favorite South Nicollet Avenue eatery and yet have to drive to Blaine to see a Vikings game? Here is the link. http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/3468433.htmlI hope any tax like this has to go to the voters first. I don't care what the Vikings do -- as long as it doesn't involve my tax money. There are too many things that are legitimately part of government's purview that aren't getting done well to waste money on this junk.
If the burbs want to subsidize the Vikings on their own, I'd be fine with that. I hope Jason Lewis pushes that -- he was sure pushing that idea when the idea was to build these things in Minneapolis -- let the Minneapolis taxpayers pay for it by themselves.
I could see some public support for a gopher only stadium on campus -- but I think there are other larger priorities for the University of Minnesota -- more related to its academic mission.
