In March, the city will decide whether or not to destroy 17 units of affordable housing for a flyover ramp to 28th street. The city will also decide if it supports a $40 million expansion of the freeway to accomodate HOV lanes. Councilmembers Zimmerman, Lilligren and Schiff have made clear their opposition.
Rybak was asked on MPR about his position and he remained vague, as he has been from the start. I wish the mayor would stand up to the PAC and make clear his intention to veto the project unless the flyover ramp and additional lanes are removed and replaced with serious transit investment. When the bulldozers roll, he will be the one to take the heat, not Smith Parker. Where do you stand, Mayor Rybak?
