Anyone who is truly troubled by being undertaxed should send the government
body of their choice as much extra money as they can afford to ease their
concerns. As a matter of fact, perhaps they could start a movement of
friends, family, neighbors, etc. to voluntarily send the city, state, or
feds more money as a matter of conscience.

Taxing businesses more doesn't really help people who are struggling as the
increase will be passed right along as higher prices for goods and services.
Even commercial property taxes, for most part, are "passed through" to the
businesses that lease the space, and (you guessed it) added to the price of
goods and services that WE buy. To me, this sounds as regressive as the
sales tax , gas tax, etc.

(I personally believe that the people who are helped the most by higher
taxes are the people whose salaries/wages are paid by taxpayers. Most
private businesses have had to pare down and find ways to become more
efficient to survive. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask government
bodies to do the same.)

One of my favorite sayings is "If you always do what you've always done, you
always get what you've always got". Why can't we start looking at things
differently? I don't think that it is inherently evil to question the
status quo. And the status quo, in this city, is increasing taxes and
spending at a far higher rate than inflation.
