I never really thought of the grassroots as a machine, but I suppose
there are those out there that will machinize everything in favor of
efficiency. The new and improved genetically engineered dfl or is that
dlc....

If there was ever a time when the northside needed some extra tender
loving care, it's right now. I just can't see how the dfl can deliver
that. I think the dfl has had their chance to help the northside and
they have failed. The process needs new people and ideas. It needs to
have real consensus, inclusiveness and process. It needs the attention
of the whole city. But without the leadership, that energy will be
wasted.
At this critical point in police-community relations we have a chance to
heal an open wound. I am glad to hear that the process seems to be
opening to other voices and concerns. But without a continual voice from
that part of Mpls. the effectiveness of mediation is in question. I
believe that Shane Price has been doing the work that needs to be done.
I want him to continue his work, but I also want him to have a vote, and
I want people to listen to what this man has to say as the new City
Council member for the Third Ward.
Before the last, last, election I spoke with Shane and R.T. in a cold
house in North Mpls......I walked away from that meeting thinking that
both were thoughtful, intelligent, and fully capable, regardless of
experience. The dfl would have none of it.
R.T. stuck it out and won, Shane knew how things were, and he was brave
enough to join the real grassroots party. The party that means to fix
some long festering wounds, the party that knows an injustice to one, is
an injustice to all, a party above all that will, I believe, hold to
good process. As a white, nearing middle-aged man, why is north Mpls an
interest to me?
Because people from my side of the river, democrats, more or less, would
burn any connection between the two sides.....
This is inherently unhealthy, against our better nature, and
economically stupid.
This is a cultural issue as much as anything else, and it needs a
certain understanding. An understanding, that I believe, cannot come
from more of the same. I think the dfl should clean house and come back
when they have proven worthy of governing here in North and Northeast
Mpls.

"There is a natural law that states that form follows function. The body
develops to deal with situations and stresses placed upon it. If the
body is required to do heavy work, it develops large muscles. If one
draws a great deal, the small motor muscles of the hands get developed.
When one practices Tai Chi many hours a day, the whole body learns to
move as one unit. The muscles are toned without much increase in bulk.
The bones get strong as well as flexible. You can almost always pick out
the Tai Chi player by his or her body."
