It is good to hear that we can see the good police
officers also. I would dare say that the majority of
officers are "good". Flawless? No. Good? Yes. I
make my argument on this philosophy.
WM: I would agree that many and many an officer is a good officer.
If the majorityWM: I contend that it is in their college degrees and in the psychological testing where some of the problems which afflict police departments are created. A college degree which includes a large amount of classes that are peace officer specific do not begin to prepare people to be police officers and the number of classes outside that specialty do not necessarily pre-dispose officers for their jobs.

Sure. However, let's: 1) recognize police officers
have immensely difficult and usually thankless jobs. They're always either doing too much or not enough, no
matter what they do. 2) Don't get their licensing
from a cereal box, it requires a college degree and
psychological examining (at least in MN, and obviously
Mpls).
The testing, I think, is where police departments are not well served. I say that because too many people become officers who are clearly not suited to the profession. They may comprise only 10% of the profession or even less, but they create a lot of grief in their wake.]
