You might want to put your home telephone number on
the State of Minnesota Department of Commerce's new
"Do Not Call" list, which takes effect this New Year's Day.
Call 1-800-921-4110 or just use the simple on-line form at:

        http://www.commerce.state.mn.us

(Unfortunately, the popularity of the state's Do Not Call
list has attracted some scam artists who are calling up
people on the list and asking for more information like
social security and calling card numbers.)

But be advised: non-profits and political organizations
will not be required to respect the state's Do Not Call
list, and the MPPOA fundraisers would probably contend
that they fall into that category.

Federal telemarketing laws still apply to these fine
folks, though, and now that you've asked to be placed on
their own Do Not Call list, they're not allowed to call
you back! They can be fined up to $1500 per willful
violation.
