Allow me, please.

Coleman was urging a vote for the Green candidate to divide progressives and
keep them from moving to Mondale when they might have voted for either
Wellstone or Tricomo, but more likely the man leading Coleman by 9 points at
the time of the plane crash...Wellstone.

Norm Coleman was hardly dispensing advice for the lovelorn here. He knew
that Wellstone's death could consolidate progressive votes to elect Mondale,
a respected public figure. Fortunately for Coleman, the despicable behavior
of the media, especially the conservatively owned and anchored broadcast
outlets, the Wellstone memorial rally a purely predictable, if not always
prudent, expression of grief and resolve combined with spin Sarah Janecek
and Vin Weber were able to put on Rick Kahn's outburst, spelled the
conspiracy that defeated DFLers all over the state.

Garrison Keillor knew as those of us in St. Paul have known intimately for
20 years that Coleman is utterly incapable of expressing a single sincere
syllable if it will aid his ambition. The fact that statewide voters got
sucked into his con game is testament to the devastation glib insincerity is
capable of inflicting.
