OK, this story explains quite a bit for me, at least as far as the candidates who sought DFL endorsement. I thought perhaps one of Moore's strengths with the DFL delegates would be his connection to Martin Sabo. I'm sure it did not take long for visions of dollar signs to be dancing in delegates' eyes each time Moore drew upon his close ties with Sabo and his long history of bringing cold hard cash back to MN from DC. What other promises of riches untold did Mr. Moore make in order to nail down the endorsement? I have another question as well. I know Margo Ashmore identifies herself as a DFLer, but did she seek DFL endorsement? Because I'm pretty sure that with her involvement in the Upper River Master Plan, she's probably aware of various pots of money that could be accessed to help implement it. Those who recall the discussion a year ago about the housing proposal for the Riverview Supper Club site might remember that the folks who wanted a park for that site (as the Master Plan calls for) were able to line up not only federal funds, but also state funds from the DNR and regional park funding from the Met Council. It's too bad the old City Council blew their chance to take advantage of that, but that's a topic for another time.
