Living-wage jobs are not a "green" issue.
Renewable energy jobs would be. Organic farming
would be. But the Green Party shouldn't get
involved in subsidized jobs. It would tarnish
the party's image as more "politics as usual".
As a Green, I disagree. The four pillars of the Green movement are Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice, Grassroots Democracy and Non-violence.
Living wage jobs are a Green issue under the pillar of social justice. And since when is paying people what they are worth "subsidized jobs"? Government is a represntative of society. If we're spending tax money on a project we should absolutely insist that fair wages are being paid to the workers involved.
