I have always disliked the term "machine" in politics.  Is has often been used by writers to express some form of organization that propels candidates to victory. I also think writers use it to tag candidates with the idea some large force controls the candidates every political thought and decision.

I believe money has an impact but so do the activist involved in a candidates campaign. I would hope most candidates that make the decision to run are driven by convictions, ideology, and core belief, and in the end that is what drives their politics and decisions once elected to office.

(KR)Is it possible to be addicted to a Machine, Vanessa?

(VF) What you or others may call addiction, I call loyalty to the
party I belong to. I guess in your eyes Keith, I am a machine. However,
my husband doesn't think I am a machine at all.

(KR)Did a Machine recognize, DFL identifying, Mr. Samuels and his efforts at
community building, and reward him with Machine-made support? No!

(VF) Well, it was there is the voting at the convention, to say he didn't
not have support is not to tell the truth. He had support, it just was not
enough to gain the endorsement.
I believe he had something like 12 votes, out of 72. Further more what you
call the machine is people just like you and me. It just called dedication
to one's own party, as I am sure you are to yours.

(KR)In the 3rd Ward: Which candidate took risks for his community long
before electioneering time? (A: DS)

(VF)There are some who felt like he did not, also let me say there are some
in Jordan, that don't know him. Also, the record on crime speaks for it's
self. What has he taken risk for??? over the past six months
the murder rate has dropped, so where was the risk there?

(KR)Which candidate will do a better job over all?

(VF)Well apparently not only has the convention spoke through the power of
voting, (But to let some spin it, the delegates were handpicked, or they
were picked from jump street to be delegates, just for this election.) How
could anyone had known we would be looking a replacement for a cm so soon.
However, the primary voters backed up the convention voters and no matter
which way people shake it up, or spin it out, Olin "MOORE" stills comes out
as the most voted for in the Third Ward.

I have yet to hear the excuses that will come within the coming weeks, as to
why the other camp did not get the votes. As, I am sure they are
coming........
