Breaking story for January 3, 2003.

Apparently a man has been killed one block off of Franklin at 19th and Portland.  It is reported that a man who had been stabbed and then ran into the grocery store.  It is also reported that the man had expired after police and paramedics arrived. It was speculated that this is another gang and drug related attack in this area that already has seen one killing in 2003.

If anyone has more specific information please post it.  Minneapolis and this unfortunate area is getting a bad start for the New Year. At this rate we will have over three hundred murders by the end of the year. It is time for the Minneapolis City officials to allocate the needed funds for the police to have sufficient funds to give adequate protection for these impacted neighborhoods.  The police are doing the best they can be expected to do, but they need more resources to win this fight.

If necessary we need Federal Mediation between the "Impacted Neighborhoods" and the City of Minneapolis.  Such mediation would be aimed at providing adequate and equal police protection for such communities without those communities having to resort to Federal Courts to secure a level of protection that approximates non impacted neighborhoods.

Perhaps the 3rd Ward candidates could comment on this?
