Perhaps the 3rd Ward candidates could comment on this? TN: I wouldn't count on it Jim. Neither one of these guys have been specific on any proposal to curb crime OR reign in the criminals on the Minneapolis Police force. While I feel for the man, his family and everyone who has to live around this sort of crime, a police force that continually harrasses cab drivers, bullies people, threatens to "beat the crap" out of innocent people and has murdered yet another innocent person (Christopher Burns-- found to be a homicide by the courts)is not capable of providing meaningful solutions to the serious crime problems faced in both the 3rd and 6th wards. At this point, I'm far more afraid of the police here than I am of crime. I've lived here all of my life and have only treated respecfully by a Minneapolis cop when at city hall or when running for office. I maintain that as long as people like Olson are in charge of law enforcement, we will have the same problems we do now with both crime and police malfeasance. Both of these candidates (Samuels and Moore) are relatively whimpish on both crime and police brutality issues. Right now I'm leaning towards voting for Don Samuels because he has at least addressed the issue of police malfeasance, however lightly. It's still clear to me that he hasn't given it much thought. Olin Moore on the other hand embodies everything I hate about the Minneapolis political system. He campaigns as a newcommer, yet as an aide to Rep. Sabo he is really a well connected insider, and has no idea how to relate to me or anyone with similar socio-economic challenges. As the DFL endorsed candidate Moore automatically conjures up a series of financial scnadals from LSGI to Hillary to Biernat and will likely camapaign for the same old garbage the DFL has given Minnapolis and the 3rd ward to date. Still, at least I know what to expect from him. I will probably make my decision by seeing who gets endorsed by the police federation and then working really hard to see that this person looses, and hopefully humilliatingly. So Mr. Moore, Mr. Samuels; I'm listening. Try to convince me. Tamir Nolley Holland Ward 3 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
