This Saturday, January 11 at 5 p.m., Iric Nathanson will give a Fireside Chat about "The Shame of Minneapolis," the mayoral and police corruption scandal of 1902 surrounding Mayor "Doc" Ames. The scandal was given widespread coverage when the article "The Shame of Minneapolis" was published in McClure's Magazine 100 years ago this month. It was one of the earliest examples of muckraking journalism. Iric has written an article about this scandal in the current issue of Hennepin History magazine.

The Fireside Chat is free and open to the public. The Hennepin History Museum is located at 2303 3rd Avenue South, in the historic Christian Mansion. Parking is available in the museum's lot on the south side of the building, on 3rd Avenue, or in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts parking lot (former Fair Oaks motel).
