1. If the intension of the referendum was to provide money to lower class
sizes, now that it's being raised is there going to be a refund from the
school system?
I believe the Minneapolis Schools will still have the smallest
class sizes of any public school system in the entire metro region,
according to media reports. So the referendum money IS being used to keep
class sizes smaller -- without it the classes would be much larger.
2. If the goal is to provide the best education possible, and having lower
class sizes will support that effort, why are we now raising class sizes?
Is the goal now not to provide the best education possible, or did class
size not have an effect on quality?
The "best education possible" would probably be to have an
individual tutor for each child. Are you willing to pay the taxes it would
take to provide that, Steve? Anybody with any sense understands that the
School Board has to stay within a budget.
3. Were the voters just being duped?
As a republican, Steve, maybe you should ask your Mr. Bush about
this. Ask about his State of the Union speech. A year & 4 months after
9-11, the name "Osama bin Lauden" was never even mentioned at all in this
year's speech. All his tough talk last year about going after the
terrorists, etc. has amounted to ... what? So were the voters just being duped?
