[Mpls] What's a Loppet?

Hello List-ers.

Haven't heard much on the list about this weekend's City of Lakes Loppet around Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. Crews have been preparing the course around these two lakes all week, the event tents are up on the north end of Calhoun, and I've been watching skiiers practicing around the Calhoun course all day. This lovely new snow has only helped things!

For more info, check out cityoflakesloppet.com. There are events tonight (Friday), with the main events and races Saturday at 10:30 am. It should be a wonderful weekend, weather-wise, to enjoy the "silent sport" of cross country skiing here in the greatest of urban parks.
