Homeless people tell policymakers their stories By: . . Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder Originally posted 1/30/2003
By Dianne Haulcy Contributing Writer On January 10, a historic event occurred at Minneapolis City Hall. For the first time ever, local policymakers listened to the concerns and issues of people currently experiencing homelessness. Cathy TenBroeke, the principal aide to Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman, was instrumental in organizing the event. TenBroeke, an advocate for homeless people, gives credit for the idea to a homeless man she and Dorfmann know who sleeps in one of the homeless camps. TenBroeke says that the man talked to them one day, saying that he would have liked to address the county commissioners but felt intimidated by them. The man also did not want to be on camera. http://www.spokesman-recorder.com/news/Article/Article.asp?NewsID=21997&sID=13 Shawn Lewis, Field Neighborhood -- _______________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup Meet Singles http://corp.mail.com/lavalife TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1.
