From TN The Taxi ordinance prohibits any taxi from picking up
anyone downtown when the taxi is not on the taxi
stand.
The above statement is not true! We've have spent years attempting to dispell
this myth, but it keeps surfacing. Taxis may respond to a hail. We do ask them to do
so in a safe manner. No one should be denied service. Taxi companies must assign a cab
to a phone call for service, if it has not been bid on by a driver in 15 minutes,
unless unusual circumstances such as bad weather exist. If you do not get the service
you need, report it at 673-2080. Note dates and times of requests for services or
dates, times and cab numbers of drivers refusing service. We can then investigate and
take appropriate action.
