I know I'm supposed to respect the CM's vote on this, but it is very hard.
I respect them so much I'd like to see them retired to some very nice
place other than here, and replaced with reps with common moral sense.
PL: You know, this strikes me as being extremely unfair. When one uses any single filter (in this case an anti-war resolution) to judge a CM's job effectiveness, it causes problems. But to use an issue that is not even germane to the running of this city is absolutely unfair. Lets have a discussion about all the city-critical issues that this city council IS or ISN'T doing. It seems completely foolish to want to "retire" a CM simply because they are not making decisions about foreign policy. That clearly is NOT relevant to their job. I voted for my CM because of the decisions I thought he would make with regard to city issues.

All of the attempts to convince us that this IS a city issue are not compelling. Using those same arguments then this is a germane issue for every organization in this country. Should we have our neighborhood councils vote on anti-war resolutions? How about Water Conservation Districts? The Mpls School Board?

All that being said, I am strongly against a war with Iraq. I have marched here in Mpls, and I went to Washington DC last month to march as well. I know there is a great deal of emotion surrounding this war issue, but lets focus energy where it will be effective. Write to congress. Write to the President. Write to the Strib. Demonstrate.
