Living in the neighborhood that faces a big giant cement wall at the back side of K-Mart gave cause for concern to many residents of Whittier and Stevens Square during the planning phase for 3rd Av and the way it interfaces with the new portion of the convention center. The new portion of the convention center currently has a big cement wall facing you as you navigate down 3rd before the curve. There was and still is concern that a big white cement wall is very uninviting. Hopefully, the mural will soften that a bit.
