Never have a big business do it if a medium-size business can do it. Never have a medium size business do it if a small business or co-op can do it.
If a big or medium size business can't make it without a subsidy, let it go broke. End TIF and other tax subsidies and handouts for big and medium size businesses. Let big and medium size businesses leave the state if they they don't like an unsubsidized life. All the more opportunity for small business and co-ops -- and the more of them the better. Welfare for big and medium size businesses are at the expense of money for essential city services. Which is more important - a tax-supported stadium, or tax-supported libraries and schools? Which is better for Mpls - money going out of the state to the big business headquarters, or staying right here with small businesses and co-ops? Which is better for Mpls - jobs going out of the state to low wage states or third world countries via big businesses, or staying right here with small businesses and co-ops? It's time to change the paradigm. Small is beautiful. --David Shove Roseville On Tue, 4 Mar 2003, Victoria Heller wrote: > "Target, after all, was built the way most Minnesotans say they want their > sports venues built: privately.
